What Does an Onsite PC Upgrade Cover?

An onsite PC upgrade covers any hardware installation we can complete at your home or office without workshop equipment. RAM, GPU, SSD, and component transfers between machines all qualify. You can supply your own parts and pay for labour only.

In this job, the customer had all parts ready and needed two machines handled in one visit. We upgraded the server first, fitting new RAM and GPU. The RTX 4090 LC (Liquid Cooled) that came out of the server then went into the customer's PC. Both machines were tested before we left.

Before We Started

The customer supplied all parts. The server had its original RAM and GPU. The PC was waiting to receive the RTX 4090 LC from the server. The job: fit new RAM and GPU into the server, then transfer the 4090 LC across to the PC, all in one onsite visit.

What We Upgraded

  • Server RAM: removed old modules, installed customer's new RAM
  • Server GPU: removed old card, installed customer's new GPU
  • PC GPU: RTX 4090 LC (Liquid Cooled) installed, transferred from the server

How We Did It

  1. Assessed both machines onsite: checked RAM slot configuration in the server and confirmed PCIe slot, power connectors, and case clearance in the PC before starting.
  2. Upgraded the server RAM and GPU: removed the existing modules and card, installed the customer's new parts, then confirmed the server posted and recognised both correctly.
  3. Transferred the RTX 4090 LC into the PC: removed the 4090 LC from the server, seated it in the PC's PCIe slot, connected power, and confirmed the system posted with the GPU detected.
  4. Tested both machines: ran checks on both the server and the PC to confirm all components were stable before signing off and packing up.
