4TB SSD for Gaming PC: Worth It? This 1440p 9800X3D Build Says Yes
Quick answer:
A 4tb ssd for gaming pc builds is worth it if you keep several big games installed at once. Wuthering Waves alone lists 150 GB on Steam and Diablo IV lists 90 GB, so a smaller drive fills up after a handful of titles.

Who this PC is for
1440p multiplayer library gamer. A Ryzen 7 9800X3D and RX 9070 XT for 1440p, plus a WD Black 4TB SSD for keeping many games installed.
How many games fit on a 4TB SSD?
Plenty, but fewer than you might think. Steam lists 150 GB of space for Wuthering Waves and 90 GB for Diablo IV. Add Windows, game updates and anything else you keep, and a smaller drive runs out fast.
The caption for this build names Helldivers 2, Diablo IV, Genshin, Wuthering Waves and CS2. The point of the WD Black SN850X 4 TB is to keep all of them installed together, ready for multiplayer any time your friends are online.
Live-service games like Wuthering Waves keep adding content, so their install size tends to grow. With 4TB you have room for that growth, instead of uninstalling one game to update another.
If you only play one or two games, you do not need this much. 4TB makes sense when your friends jump between different games and you want to join without a long download first.
Is one 4TB drive better than two smaller ones?
For a gaming library, one big drive is simpler. Every game sits on the same fast drive, so you never have to choose which one gets the quicker storage or move games around between drives.
This build uses a single WD Black SN850X 4 TB Gen.4 SSD, the version that comes with its own heatsink fitted. Every game in the library loads from that one Gen.4 drive.
If your library ever outgrows it, you can add a second drive later. Not sure what fits your board? WhatsApp us and we will check.
Will this PC run those games well at 1440p?
That is what it was built for. The caption describes it as sharp, high-refresh gameplay on a 27 inch 1440p screen, from a Ryzen 7 9800X3D and Radeon RX 9070 XT 16GB.
AMD's FSR upscaling helps keep frame rates high in heavier games. The caption also points to AAA and future titles such as GTA VI. Rockstar has not confirmed a PC release date yet, so treat that as a plan, not a promise.
