SilverStone RM43-320-RS is a high-density 4U rackmount chassis with 20 x 3.5" hot-swap bays for large-scale NAS and SAN deployments. Supports SSI-EEB and E-ATX boards with 5 x Mini-SAS HD SFF-8643 backplane connectors, 7 standard-profile PCIe slots, and rail kit included.

Before you buy

• Check rack depth and motherboard compatibility before ordering. The 660mm-deep chassis supports SSI-EEB, SSI-CEB, E-ATX, ATX, Micro-ATX and Mini-ITX motherboards.
• CPU cooler clearance is 130mm with the GPU holder installed, or 148mm without it. Check cooler and expansion-card dimensions.
• Five Mini-SAS HD SFF-8643 connectors serve the 20 drive bays. Confirm compatible SAS/SATA controllers, cabling and sufficient backplane power connections before ordering.

How many SAS or RAID controllers do I need for 20 drives?

The RM43-320-RS backplane has five Mini-SAS HD SFF-8643 connectors, each serving four drive bays. To connect all 20 drives directly, use compatible SAS/SATA HBA or RAID controller ports providing at least 20 drive connections. Alternatively, a compatible SAS expander configuration may allow fewer controller ports. Verify controller capacity, cabling, and backplane compatibility before purchasing.

Does the RM43-320-RS come with rail slides?

Yes. Rail slides are included and support up to 80 kg total weight. The rail cabinet mounting hole distance ranges from 663mm to 915mm for standard 19" racks.

Can I use this for GPU compute alongside storage?

Yes. The RM43-320-RS has seven expansion slots and supports expansion cards up to 340mm long. Maximum card width is 116mm with the GPU holder installed or 154mm without it. GPU compute alongside SAS HBA controllers is possible, subject to motherboard slot layout, cooling and power compatibility.
