SilverStone RM43-324-RS 4U Rackmount Server Chassis

The SilverStone RM43-324-RS is a high-density 4U rackmount chassis with 24 hot-swap 3.5" drive bays for large-scale NAS and SAN deployments. It supports compatible 2.5" and 3.5" SAS/SATA drives, six Mini-SAS HD SFF-8643 backplane connectors, and includes a sliding rail kit.

• Enterprise storage builds get 24 x 3.5" hot-swap bays with SGPIO support and six Mini-SAS HD SFF-8643 connectors for connecting compatible SAS/SATA storage controllers.
• Data center deployments benefit from the included 80kg-rated sliding rail kit, three hot-swappable 120mm PWM fans, and individual LED indicators for all 24 drives.
• GPU-capable server builds can use seven standard-profile PCI/PCIe slots and expansion cards up to 340mm long. Card width clearance depends on the GPU holder configuration.
• Not suitable for shallow racks without sufficient usable mounting depth and rear cable clearance.

Before you buy

• The chassis supports SSI-EEB, SSI-CEB, E-ATX, ATX, Micro-ATX and Mini-ITX motherboards, and its 660mm depth requires sufficient rack clearance.
• CPU cooler clearance is 130mm with the GPU holder installed or 148mm without it. Verify your cooler and expansion-card dimensions.
• The 24-bay backplane requires compatible SAS/SATA controllers and cabling through six Mini-SAS HD SFF-8643 connectors. Verify Mini Redundant PSU mounting-hole compatibility separately.

What is the difference between RM43-324-RS and RM43-320-RS?

RM43-324-RS has 24 hot-swap bays with 6 x Mini-SAS HD connectors, while RM43-320-RS has 20 bays with 5 connectors. The 320-RS also includes a slim optical drive slot and 2 x 2.5" internal bays. Both share the same 4U dimensions and rail kit.

How many RAID controllers do I need for 24 drives?

The RM43-324-RS backplane has six Mini-SAS HD SFF-8643 connectors, each serving four drive bays. To connect all 24 drives directly, use compatible HBA or RAID controller ports providing at least 24 drive connections. Alternatively, a compatible SAS expander configuration may allow fewer controller ports. Verify controller capacity, cabling, and backplane compatibility before purchasing.

Does the RM43-324-RS come with rail slides?

Yes. The RM43-324-RS includes a sliding rail kit rated for up to 80kg. The supported rack mounting-hole distance is 663mm to 915mm (±3mm). Verify your rack dimensions before purchasing.
