SilverStone RM46-502-I 4U Rackmount Server Chassis

SilverStone RM46-502-I is a 4U rackmount chassis whose expansion slots and I/O can face the front of the rack. It takes SSI-EEB boards and has 8 expansion slots, which SilverStone rates for up to 4 server-grade graphics cards. Local Singapore warranty support through Mansa.

Who it suits

• If you swap GPUs or network cards often, front-facing expansion slots let you reach them without pulling the chassis out of the rack.
• Multi-GPU servers get 8 expansion slots and cards up to 437mm long when no rear fans or radiator are fitted.
• Liquid-cooled builds fit a rear radiator up to 280mm, or two 120mm, 140mm or 160mm fans.
• Not ideal for high-density storage servers. Two external 5.25" bays and two internal 2.5" positions limit storage capacity. Consider RM45-360 or RM43-320-RS for larger storage builds.

Before you buy

• Two 160mm rear fans cannot be installed when the I/O is moved to the rear side, because they share the 140mm mounting holes.
• The 437mm card length applies only without rear fans or a radiator installed. A rear radiator reduces it.
• PSU plus any 5.25" device must total 430mm or less. 2U Redundant PSUs need RM46-502-I V2.0 or later.

What does front-accessible expansion slots mean on the RM46-502-I?

The card brackets and I/O can face the front of the rack. SilverStone also lets you swap the handles, rail positions, 5.25" cage and PSU mount between front and rear layouts.

Does the RM46-502-I come with rack rails?

SilverStone lists the RMS05-22 slide rail as compatible. The spec sheet does not say rails are in the box, so treat them as separate unless we confirm otherwise.
